Being humble in a resume is one of the rules; those are at least what most sources said. While it might be true that you should stay humble and avoid being too confident about yourself, it doesn’t mean that you should hide your best accomplishments. Showing off your accomplishments is not an act of being too confident. Accomplishments are indeed required in a resume because that is what it is made for. However, it doesn’t mean that you will prevent stating about your accomplishments. Most hiring managers want to know what you can do for them and your accomplishments can be a good thing to add to show them you are capable without having to be confident.
So, what if you don’t have any accomplishments? There is no way! Everyone has it. You just need to sit down, relax and think about what you can do. If you still can’t find one, then you might need to understand what an accomplishment is. What is called as an accomplishment is something that you have done before in your previous job? You can find something measurable from what good things you have done before such as helping the company you worked to make an event with hundreds or thousands of audiences in a certain amount of time. You need to show the number to the hiring manager to show how good you are. Once you find out your accomplishments, here are some things that you can do to include them in your resume.
All the accomplishments that you have can be listed on a piece of paper to help you pick the most appropriate ones to put in your resume. If you need more accomplishments to list, try to remember the times when you were praised by your boss after completing projects or doing something related to your position and company. Not only from your boss, but compliments and praises can also come from clients or customers. Those with good accomplishments usually are promoted and recommended by clients. If you have such experience, no doubt that is your accomplishment. If these didn’t happen to you, then remember things that the people in your department recognize you. Being selected to handle a project is also an accomplishment because not everyone in your department can receive such an honor. So, just write something good that makes you proud and praised by the people around you in your previous company.
Once you list all the accomplishments required in the paper, you can collect and arrange them with good phrases and sentences. Don’t just blindly state you are good at teamwork or handling certain projects, but provide the result for your company as well. This is because the hiring manager needs an example if you are good at what you called as your accomplishments to convince them that you are skillful. If you find it difficult, you can try to make the rough notes first before arranging them in well-written sentences.
So start digging your accomplishments and recall your great skills and talents you have poured in your previous jobs to tell your hiring manager you are experienced on them so that they don’t have to worry about accepting you for the open position.
