You might be overwhelmed by the long list of rules you should follow to end up in a good resume and this is why you can’t end up with the right one. The very first line you need to write under your contact information on your resume is the objective. This is not a paragraph or a list. When making the objective, don’t start it with the subject “I” such as “I am seeking for a position”, but always start it with the position you are seeking followed by the skills that you have related to the position. Make sure that the skills included here are those the company is looking for. By providing your relevant skills, you can grab the hiring manager’s attention from the first line of your resume.
After the objective, there is the summary, which summarizes the main content of your resume. Since this is called the summary, this is usually what most hiring managers read fully from your resume. Due to the importance, your summary should be well written. A good summary is the one that highlights your most outstanding skills or experiences. The hiring manager needs to get what he is looking for by reading the summary or he will stop being interested in reading it. This section should be straightforward and simple. State your profession, specialized relevant skills, and some other additional information. The additional one can be your most outstanding experience, accomplishments, awards, or other unique skills that you have relevant to the position. To make your summary more interesting, add more statements of your interest that might be useful for the position and your habits or characters.
Skills and Achievements
While in your summary you highlight your most outstanding skills and achievements, in the next section you need to make them more details. Although the summary is maybe the only section to be read by the hiring manager, it doesn’t mean that you can just leave the rest of the resume written improperly. Always use bullet points to state your skills in detail to make them easier to understand. You can include a number to make your skills outstanding such as the number of people you have collected in the seminars you handled or the percentage of budget you can save for your previous company when conducting certain projects. Numbers can always make you stand out because the hiring manager can automatically see how amazing you are.
Optional Personal Interest
In some cases, you can add your interest in your resume to build a connection with the hiring manager. Although this is called a personal interest, this should be still related to the position. If your interest is not related at all, you better cut it out. This is why personal interest is optional in a resume application.
