Offering services for software development is easy as long as you have the skills and a good proposal. These two things should be well combined because great skills without an excellent proposal are useless. The way you provide your achievements and skills in the proposal can grab the clients’ attention to discuss it more. If they are not interested, there will be no meeting or discussion. So, make sure that your proposal is well written and prepared.
• Writing a Cover Letter. Starting your proposal with a cover letter is a great idea to allow the clients to understand who you are and what you are offering. Make this part in four paragraphs, the first one describing about your business such as how you understand clients and fulfill their needs while the second paragraph should contain more details about your business including how long you have been in this industry, who your clients are and provide your website to let the readers check your portfolio.

• Designing Executive Summary. This is put in the beginning, but it should be made last since it covers all the whole information of your proposal. Like its name, this section is a summary of the proposal and you shouldn’t make it too long. The purpose of writing this part is to grab the reader’s attention to read more. When this part is attractive, they would be glad to read the rest of the document. Keep in mind that this is a summary, so don’t include too much technical information and price. They don’t belong to this part. The software projects and general objectives should be what to include in this section.
• Describing Project Overview. Describe your project in more detail explanation including the goals, choices of technology, process and many more. You should also include information about where the software will be distributed, testing, support and warranties, user capacities and many others.
• Obstacles. This part is made for showing the clients that you understand your project because you have analyzed the risks that might happen. State the risks and provide some solutions to manage them. So even if there are some possible risks, you have already known how to control each of them. This will convince the clients that you are capable of making your project successful. You might also make one more section, the Technical Obstacle after this section if there are some technical problems when the software is used for different systems.
• Industry Risks. When your software is used and distributed, there will be some risks appearing from the market industry including decreasing amount of users and the chance for the software being outmoded after. certain life span. However, you should have provided the solutions or developments in addressing those possible risks in the future to keep your software updated.
• Budgetary Risks. There must be some risks in the budget such as the going-over budget that might happen due to some reasons. Again, you have to provide some statements that the risks can be addressed by the milestone of the project. SWOT analysis can be also included in this section if necessary.
• Hardware. List all the compatible hardware that can be integrated with the software created to let the clients consider whether or not the software is versatile enough. Your proposed software might be compatible with smartphones and you can state it in this section since this can be interesting for the clients.
• Software. List all the software that will be used for developing your product and integrated with it. To provide some explanation of why the software is chosen. If in case the clients need more options, you can give some other alternatives to the integrated software since some systems have similar technologies.
Many sections should be included in your software development proposal because your clients need to know this project in detail to help them decide whether or not your offerings beneficial for them. So, add more sections including milestones and reporting, development, testing, documentation, warranty, support, training, pricing, payment terms, and contact.
